Sommerach
The community of ~ 1,400 souls is characterized by wine-making and wine culture out-and-out. Its streets and alleys are edged by half-timbered houses, you can feel a pleasant buzz of activity, and the choice of typical Franconian hostelry of inns and wine cantinas is unrivalled. Sommerach is really worth visiting at every season.
The »Isle of Wine«
The name »Isle of Wine« is just a bit older than 50 years, but it represents a charming part of »Main-Franconia« far beyond Sommerach and the region. Since, in the years of 1950-1957, a canal was built to cut off the loop of the Main river, canal and river-kindly embrace the wines villages of Sommerach and Nordheim with the area around Hallburg and all the famous vineyards in between. If you like cycling or walking on scenic tracks you will find peaceful spots and places with a breath-taking view.
